MeDicom
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
Your archive, in the folder you choose. MeDicom processes studies on your device. The developer does not receive their contents on their servers.
Scope and contact
This policy covers MeDicom for Mac, iPhone and iPad, developed by Giuseppe La Guardia. For information about data processing and privacy requests, contact support@giuzzilab.com.
Information processed in the archive
MeDicom reads DICOM files selected by the user and organizes their images into studies, series and patients. Files may contain health and identifying information, including names, dates of birth, patient identifiers, study dates, modalities, metadata and images. User-added titles, notes, conditions and annotations are stored with the archive in files separate from the originals. Conditions are user-entered categories; the app does not generate diagnoses.
On-device processing
Reading, searching, viewing, measurement and study organization run on your device. MeDicom does not require a developer account or send study contents to Giuzzi Lab-operated servers. It includes no advertising, analytics SDKs or tools for tracking across apps and websites. It does not use HealthKit or connect to health portals or PACS.
Your chosen folder and file protection
The archive is an external folder chosen by the user, also accessible through Finder or Files. Copies of originals preserve DICOM data and metadata without reencoding. Folder names may contain the patient’s name, condition and study title. Notes and annotations are stored as JSON; working copies may be created during import and export.
MeDicom does not apply its own encryption to the archive or anonymize files. Protection depends on the device, folder and provider you choose. Local preferences store a reference to the authorized folder and the settings needed to reopen it. Document access uses system file pickers and permissions.
iCloud Drive, other providers and backups
You may choose a local folder, iCloud Drive or another document provider. If that service synchronizes the folder, it may receive images, originals, notes, folder names and other archive contents. Transfer, availability, backup and any storage outside your country depend on the provider and its settings. Its privacy policy applies, including Apple’s privacy policy.
MeDicom does not operate its own cloud or use CloudKit to synchronize an app database. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete the external folder or copies in cloud services and backups.
Export and sharing
Users may export PNG, JPEG or TIFF images, an original DICOM file or a complete study with annotations in ZIP, and deliver them to selected apps or destinations. DICOM and ZIP files retain personal information in the originals; images and notes may also reveal health information or identifiers. Export does not guarantee anonymization.
Exported copies are not password-encrypted by MeDicom. Selected providers, apps and recipients may retain them under their own rules. The developer does not receive these copies and cannot revoke or remotely delete them.
Free study and Keychain
To remember the study chosen in the free version, the app stores two SHA-256 digests derived from the study and patient identifiers in the local Keychain. This record contains no names, dates of birth or images and is not sent to the developer. The entry is configured for that device, separately from the archive, and may persist after uninstalling according to system behavior. Deleting the archive or changing folders does not reset the free-study choice.
Purchases and Apple services
The Full archive unlock uses a permanent in-app purchase handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. The app verifies transactions and access entitlements through Apple services. The developer does not receive payment card details or Apple Account passwords.
Apple processes information needed for its services and any diagnostics according to the user’s settings. App Store & Privacy also applies to purchases and downloads.
Retention and user control
Archive data remains in the chosen folder until the user removes it. Originals in source folders, exported files, cloud copies and backups must be managed separately. You can access the folder, make copies and use the files with other compatible programs. Before removing or moving files, keep any copies you wish to retain.
The developer has no remote access to the archive and cannot retrieve, modify or delete studies for the user. Giuzzi Lab does not perform automated decision-making or profiling.
Support and privacy requests
If you email support@giuzzilab.com, Giuseppe La Guardia receives your email address and the information you choose to provide to respond and handle your request. Correspondence is retained for the time needed for this purpose and any legal obligations; email service providers may process it. Processing is based on handling your request and the relationship with you, together with any applicable obligations.
Do not send studies, DICOM files, health information or identity documents when requesting support. Describe the issue and use demonstration data only in screenshots.
For information received by the developer, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability and object to processing where applicable by contacting the same address. You may also complain to your competent supervisory authority, including Italy’s Garante per la protezione dei dati personali. GDPR rights apply subject to the conditions and limits of the law.
